OUR STORY

THIS AIN'TOUR FIRSTKITCHEN.

From Marsala to Brooklyn kitchens to Central Florida, every stop led to the family table at Nonno's.

MARSALA, SICILY

BEFORE THE KITCHEN, THERE WAS THE WATER.

Stefano grew up in Marsala, Sicily, around family cooking, fresh seafood, and the kind of meals that pulled everybody to the same table.

His early working life took him onto fishing boats and merchant ships. The hours were long, the work was hands-on, and nothing came from a shortcut. That part never changed.

BROOKLYN

SICILIAN INSTINCT. NEW YORK PACE.

Sicilian instinct. New York pace.

In Brooklyn's Italian kitchens, Stefano added New York speed and swagger to the food he knew from Sicily.

It was practical restaurant cooking: big flavor, honest portions, and a kitchen that had to deliver every night. That mix of Sicilian roots and New York attitude still defines the food at Nonno's.

CENTRAL FLORIDA

ONE KITCHEN LED TO ANOTHER.

Stefano's path eventually brought him to Central Florida, where his cooking built a loyal local following. Stefano and the LaCommare family's Central Florida restaurant history began in 1994.

Before Nonno's, the family operated Il Pescatore and Stefano's Trattoria. Those restaurants became part of the area's Italian dining story and laid the foundation for what came next.

NONNO'S

STILL MAKING IT BY HAND.

Nonno's Italian Restaurant opened in 2016. It is the current family restaurant: Sicilian at the roots, shaped by New York kitchens, and at home in Altamonte Springs.

Stefano still works the kitchen, checks the sauces and soups, and greets the dining room. The food and the welcome come from the same place — a family that has spent its life in restaurants.

CHAPTER 05 / THE PESTO

THE SAUCE GUESTS WOULDN'T LEAVE BEHIND.

Stefano's creamy basil pesto started at the restaurant. Guests kept asking to take it home, and that demand helped inspire Simply Nonno's Sauces — a new chapter born from the same kitchen.
